The ocular immunology service that Metropolitan Eye Research and Surgery Institute (MERSI) provides for patients involves both diagnostic and therapeutic care. When surgery is necessary our practice will engage in the safest best possible surgery to solve ocular immunology problems. Dr. Chu has a unique ophthalmic skillset that enables him to handle complex cases. Many patients are referred to Dr. Chu for surgical and medical treatment of infectious and immunologic ocular disorders. Ocular inflammatory diseases are a group of ophthalmic conditions related to infectious, autoimmune and masquerade diseases.  Early diagnosis and proper treatment often requires a multi-discipline approach with pediatricians, internists, infectious disease specialists and rheumatologists. Dr. Chu offers a thorough, comprehensive approach to the treatment of these blinding disorders that are related to ocular immunology and inflammation.  The treatment options include the latest medical and surgical modalities.
